Tourniquet: A Lifeline in War
| Every day, hundreds of people in Ukraine suffer severe injuries due to Russian aggression. Limb injuries, in particular, are extremely dangerous as they cause heavy bleeding. Without immediate hemorrhage control, a person can die within minutes. A tourniquet provides a chance to survive. It is the most effective method to quickly stop life-threatening bleeding and gain precious time. A high-quality tourniquet can be applied within 10 seconds—even with just one hand.  Unlike a simple strap, a tourniquet distributes pressure correctly. This not only stops the bleeding but also prevents amputation due to tissue necrosis. However, there is a problem—the market is flooded with low-quality tourniquets. These often fail in critical moments, tear under stress, or do not apply the necessary pressure. This is a serious issue Ukraine is facing on top of the general shortage of tourniquets. The goal of yoUAre LifeSaver e.V. is to equip Ukrainian rescuers and civilians with modern, reliable, and certified tourniquets. Priority is given to models that meet international standards such as JTS/CoTCCC: Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT) Gen 7 SAM Extremity Tourniquet (SAM-XT) SOF Tactical Tourniquet – Wide (SOFTT-W)  In addition, we actively support the procurement of the Ukrainian SiCH tourniquet, which has been tested under extreme conditions and meets all necessary international certification standards. SiCH tourniquets are reliable, durable, and can be applied quickly and safely even under high stress. We work directly with the manufacturer in Ukraine, which helps us save time and reduce transportation costs. While tourniquets that meet international guidelines such as JTS/CoTCCC often cost around €35, the SiCH tourniquet offers comparable quality for only €13.
